Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 24th, as Hythe Pier comes alive with the vibrant celebration of Waterside Heritage Day 2024! This annual event is a fantastic opportunity to dive into the rich local history while enjoying a full day of activities, entertainment, and discovery.

The event will start bright and early at 10:30 AM with an opening ceremony. Then, people will be able to take part in guided history walks and talks that will transport you through time, and learn more about the fascinating past of Hythe and the surrounding areas.

One of the highlights this year is the chance to see the ongoing restoration work on the pier and its charming train. It's the perfect occasion to get up close, ask questions, and learn more about these beloved local treasures. After the day's excitement, take a moment to relax on the pier, ride the historic train, or even hop on the ferry for a peaceful change of pace.

The day will also be filled with live music, with the New Forest Brass Band kicking things off at 10:45 AM. There’s plenty to explore with various stalls, displays, and activities designed to engage and entertain visitors of all ages. For families, a children’s trail with prizes will keep the little ones busy, while free train rides offer a nostalgic journey along the pier.

And if all that exploring works up an appetite, a pop-up café will be open all day, serving delicious refreshments to keep you fueled for the fun.

Join us at Hythe on August 24th to celebrate Waterside Heritage Day 2024. It’s more than just an event – it’s a chance to connect with the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future of this special community. Don't miss out on the talks, tours, and a day filled with local charm. More details on the flyer below or on their social media (listed above).
